Nicolaus Silver won the race in 1961,there has,nt been one since. Desert Orchid never ran in a grand national,he was however a cheltenham gold cup winner.

only two greys have ever won the national,the lamb won in twice in 1868 and 1871,nicolaus silver won it in 1961.desert orchid has never won it as he raced on the flat .
