Greyfriars Drummer set to shine in Betfred Mobile Sports Handicap Hurdle
Greyfriars Drummer has a very good chance of shining in the Betfred Mobile Sports Handicap Hurdle at Market Rasen in England on Saturday, July 21, 2012. The winner of the class-2 event will bag a cash prize of £9,697 in the end.
The going will be good in the 2 mile 5 furlong event, which is scheduled to start at 14:15 GMT, and a total of 12 runners will be up against each other. Rain could hit the track before the start, which will make things a bit uncertain.
However, Greyfriars Drummer will be favourite to win regardless of the conditions at Market Rasen, as he is in very good form. He is carrying the winning momentum, thus the bookmakers have given him a starting price of 11 to 2.
The punters will be looking at a few other options as well, but they definitely will be risking some money on him.
The four-year-old gelding does not have an extraordinary winning percentage, but he has managed to do well in races over hurdles, which shows that he is a fierce competitor and can give a tough time to his opponents.
The Charlie Mann’s trainee has participated in 14 events, winning four of them. Moreover, he finished as a runner-up once, whereas finished third in as many times.
Where Or When’s son made his racing debut in October 2010, and was unable to make a strong impression in his only race of that year. He finished seventh overall and struggled to match the speed of his rivals.
He took part in a lot of races in the next season and did a decent job overall. However, there was a lot of inconsistency in his performances, which was not a positive sign for his connections.
Despite that, he managed to bring up his maiden win that year, which would have pleased his fans.
The start to 2012 was promising for the young challenger, as he secured a third place in his first race of the season. He was not rated as the favourite back then, but still did an excellent job.
This performance gave a lot of confidence to Greyfriars Drummer, and he went onto win three back-to-back races this year.
This shows that he is in tremendous shape right now and will not make things easy for his opponents under experienced rider, Sam Thomas.
