Greys waiting for the James J Patton Silver Cup at the Orange Park Kennel Club tonight
If you think that the first round in the 2011 James J Patton Silver Cup got your hair standing and your excitement mounting then seriously buck up for the second round as that will for sure be more thrilling than the first one.
Besides, how can anything less than amazing be expected from an event that comprises of 7 races with 56 greyhounds battling for all the points that they can get in the quarterfinals on Friday evening? They will be held at the Orange Park Kennel Club.
A wide series of close matches is expected with these top of the line, explicitly trained dogs, which will for sure make the big evening worthwhile.
There is a particular pattern in which the 5th, 7th, 10th, 11th, 12th 14th and 15th races are arranged.
Race 5 will be an intense one with the combination of great early speeders and the greyhounds that are impeccable with their closing in speeds. Such races get the crowds more anxious during the final moments.
Heading the pack because of being let out of the trap first would be Shorty’s Nana and Bh’s Doitmyway.
Both are popular for their lightening speed and are capable of leading the race throughout and both have won several times at the grade A level.
However, there is some level of fierce competition that would come in from Kiowa Jill Vik and also Gotyourgoodeye.
In the 7th race, the loudest contestant is Lk’s Energizing who can very obviously beat the pack and that also not with much effort.
He has an astounding record as far as his races and starts are concerned, more than any of those competing with him in this race.
He is bound to counter competition with Touch My Hand, Gs Addison and Gm's Giovanni.
All of them are equally compatible and hyped up about winning too. There is no reason whatsoever to underestimate them in any way.
If the crowds want all their favourite dogs lined up together then race 10 is just what they want.
Jacksonville will be racing tonight for getting back the spotlight which he is known for and would need to put in an effort there.
Next in the line would be Gs Uncle Henry who has been experiencing his winning spell lately and would be a tough one to overcome.
Others on the stake include Hardheaded Dude and Gm’s Cashman, each of these above dogs have some tricks up their sleeves to make to the wire before the others.
Unleashed from the box first and leading the race would be Gm’s Dale who will be able to take the advantage of his best box initially in the race but to keep up with the lead would of course be an effort.
He will have threesome with him closing in for the finishing too but they are not too popular for their consistency.
They are Jl’s Dutch Jem , Wp’s Clinton and 2011 Puppy Stakes, Gs Uncle Harry.
If you are looking for more ‘royal rivalry’ than that is exactly what the 12th race is all about. It would be a big time talent pack including the track record holder, Paddy Whacker, Gs Tee Up, the Afleet Alex pup, Dutch Buckeye.
Only Paddy has been off the tracks since a while and also got beaten by Gs Tee Up but still it is a quite neatly balanced pack with immense potential.
If nothing else just the opening of the 14th race is next to grand. It would be opened by the best early speeders; Leading Steps and Wild Boy Andy, both qualify for taking the charge of the pack almost effortlessly.
Shooting in from behind them would be the Scottish Dreamer, a popular winner of many big time races. Tms’c Bestofshow will only face the disadvantage of being set out from box 8.
To top it off, even the last race would be a roaring round with the winner Vanessa Rousso who wants the title back again but might find the 6th box as a setback for a straight win. Racing along would be Raiders Bart, Kiowa Adara Art, the runner
up in the 2011 Jacksonville Sprint Classic, super play Gs Baker .
Thus the round two tonight will decide who gets to take away the James J Patton Silver Cup home!!
