  1. Williams put this team together from the start with only one thing in mind - winning the World Series in 2008.

He cared not one whit as to what the team would be like in 2009 or beyond.  That bridge would be crossed when they came to it - he was focused on this year alone.

So, he kind of forced his own hand from the beginning by putting a team together that relied on aging "stars" that any competent consumer of the sport of baseball that had already begun to decline, and that trend has continued as the season has progressed (e.g., Konerko, et al).

So while the trade seems inexplicable at the moment and on its face, it does give Williams the ability to make a bullpen-help trade, and it does keep in line with the sort of players he started with in March.

And that guy who wished Griffey had gone to the Cubs - if you are actually a Cubs fan (and not just kidding), you're completely baseball-retarded.

You must just want Griffey from Seattle, because nobody should want Griffey from Cincy (now the White Sox).  Why don't we go see if Ryne Sandberg wants to play 2B - I mean, he's a big name ... h**l, let's dig-up the bones of Babe Ruth while we're at it.

  2. It's actually not that bad...

Konerko is struggling this year badly at 1st. They'll move Swisher to 1st and put Griff in CF. You think he's done as a hitter? This will probably be his last year anyways.

  3. I know he should have went to the other Chicago team.

    GO CUBS!

  4. He will perform - it's a shot to take down the Series - and don't knock Griffey completely, he's a lot better than you think, and he's still got some gas left in the tank.
