Final day of the 2011 Russian Cup started saw the scintillating performance of Russian swimmer and European champion, Grigory Falko, who stood up in the Men’s 200m breast-stroke final and nabbed the title in convincing manner at Ruzi, Russia, on Monday,
July 4.
Falko completed his distance after he touched the finishing wall in a winning time of 2 minutes and 11.68 seconds. The stunning victory elevated him to 19th place in the current year’s international swimming rankings. Moreover, he also beat his
previous record of 2 minutes and 12.34 seconds, set back in April, 2011.
After securing the victory in the Men’s 200m breast-stroke race, Falko was pleased with his individual performance in the championship.
Grigory Falko is a competitive swimmer of Russia, who has expertise in the Individual Medley and breast-stroke styles. He won two gold medals in the Men’s 200m breast-stroke and 4x100m Individual Medley events at the 2008 European Championships in Eindhoven.
Additionally, he captured the golden crown in the Men’s 100m breast-stroke meet at the 2007 European Championships in Debrecen. He grabbed bronze in the 200m breast-stroke race at the 2004 European Championships in Vienna. At the 2005 European Championships
in Trieste, he snagged silver in the 200m breast-stroke final. Furthermore, he nabbed the gold title in the Men’s 4x100m Individual Medley meet at the 2007 Summer Universiade, in Bangkok.
By evaluating the succession of his laurels, it can be said that winning the first ever Olympic gold title at the upcoming London 2012 Olympic Games will be Falko’s leading desire now.
Vyacheslova Sinkevich wound up second in the Men’s 200m breast-stroke meet with a winning time of 2 minutes and 11.91 seconds. The performance moved him to 22nd spot in the world rankings. Aleksey Zinoviev rounded out the top three for the bronze
medal, after he touched the finishing wall in a time of 2 minutes and 13.96 seconds.
