Question:

Grill's Propane tanks mysteriously opening.

We've got a propane fueled grill on our back deck. Recently, we found the the gas valve was left open and the tank was empty. We swapped the tank for a filled one at the gas station and then forgot about it.

What's wierd though, is we've made an intentional effort to turn the gas off both on the tank and the grill, just to be sure. the valves have mysteriously opened over and over after closing.

We're on the 4th tank.

  1. I don't think someone like to make a joke like this, so Is is possible to take it out after you use it,

when you fasten the gas tank, you can release the tank and watch the press part can function well, try it several times and watch the contact parts. maybe the contact press parts get problems, it can press but can't retreat.

Or ask the seller to check it for you.

  2. Someone is messing with your grill i would sit and watch your girll and see who comes by!

  3. Somebody is messing with your head! Just as a side note though, you should always shut off a BBQ by turning off the tank, not the control k***s. This allows the fuel in the lines to burn off and release the pressure in them too. Don't worry, the flame will not go backwards up the line or anything like that!

I would use a 50/50 solution of water and dish soap on all of the connections and fittings of the BBQ and tank to make sure you don't have a leak. Soap check around the welds of the tank as well. It isn't common, but I have seen pinhole leaks in welds on propane tanks.
