Grill guard, bull bar and cow catcher?

what is the difference between these three devices? just the name or what else?

grill guard is a  grill guard?  bull bars are the bars on the bumper on 4x4's and cow catchers are the plough type things on trains

All the same. Australians call the 'roo' bars for obvious reasons.

Grill guards are those small guards that are put on trucks. They only cover the grill and headlights. Like this: http://www.mooretruckaccessories.com/moo...

A bull bar is like a grill guard, but it has a heavier bottom part to it, and doesn't cover the lights and the whole grill like this: http://automotivemanonline.com/library/5...
