Grimsby welcomes The Viking!
The European Tour kicked off with darts stars giving a wonderful show in Austria. The darts magicians including James Wade, Simon Whitlock, Mark Webster, Paul Nicholson, Vincent van der Voort and Raymond van Barneveld gave an amazing night of darts madness
on the inaugural European Tour Event.
Grimsby is the next stop where these darts magicians are going to entertain the world of sports with their play.
The European Tour has been successful by far and stars like Whitlock and Barney have proved their individual potential.
The showstopper at the event was none other than Simon ’The Wizard’ Whitlock. By hitting an unbelievable nine-dart finish, Whitlock proved his point with a magical move.
"The nine-darter was great. I've felt it's been coming so it was brilliant to hit it and the celebration was unreal. It was disappointing to lose the match, but I am delighted with the way I have been playing recently." said ‘The Wizard’ after standing up
to his nickname.
James Wade was keeping it real. He went on to the final and struck a ten-darter. He had an impressive three dart average of 105.
Barney came strong and went strong as he scored well, heading to the semi-finals. He had an amazing checkout of 170 to his name at the end.
Former World Champion Andy Fordham will be joining all six of the players for a breathtaking event at Grimsby.
Andy Fordham is a darts legend who has ruled the game in early 1990’s. He retired due to liver failure and weighing over 197 kilograms.
His most memorable win was against Mervyn King, when he defeated him 6-3 in a thrilling final at the 2004 BDO World Darts Championship.
In 2007 ‘The Viking’ had to withdraw from the sport due to deteriorating health.
The Grimsby showdown is an event worth witnessing. With the presence of Fordham and the current stars of the game, it is expected to be one memorable darts event in recent times.
A local website confirmed the sold-out tickets status and only limited tickets are available to witness this once in a lifetime event.
