Griqualand West v North West – CSA Provincial One-Day Competition – Match Recap

Griqualand West won the toss and elected to bat first – however, North West launched a fierce bowling attack, led by http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Dieter-Klein-c54062 (9-0-39-2), which restricted Griqualand, all out, to 208.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Roy-Andre-Adams-c86951 and Gihahn Cloete opened the innings for their side, and while the former was unable to contribute anything beyond 3 runs before Klein dismissed him in the fourth over, Cloete went on to top-score for the team with 85, in addition to setting up
a series of steady partnerships.
Aubrey Swanepoel (11) joined Cloete for a 14-run stand, which came to an end in the 6th over, with Klein claiming Swanepoel for his second victim of the day. Niel Bredenkamp’s partnership with Cloete lasted longer, with the two batsmen contributing
a combined total of 41 runs, before Bredenkamp fell prey to http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Dale-Deeb-c1303 in the 18th over.
Skipper Wesly Landsdale (9) set up a 29-run stand for the 4th wicket with Cloete, and their efforts got the team up to 107 by the 26th over, after which the skipper was caught out by van der Dussen off http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Yusuf-Bulbulia-c98355.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Alan-Kruger-c980 was the next batsman to step up, and managed to apply himself at the crease for a 35-run contribution. His 24-run stand with Cloete came to an end with the departure of the opening batsman,
who was run out by http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Kagiso-Rapulana-c69971 in the 43rd over, was followed by Kruger’s dismissal in the very next over, also run out by Kgamadi.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Jean-Pierre-Horatio-Triegaardt-c66760 (3) attempted to get the innings back on track, but both were dismissed in the 49th over by Diseko, and Griqualand West eventually finished, all out, at 208.
The chase, however, posed no difficulties for North West, who reached the target within 43 overs, at the expense of just 3 wickets.
Rapulana (16) and Andries Huisamen (0) were unremarkable (both dismissed by http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Graham-Robert-Cowdrey-c60631 der Dussen (65*) and Pelser (64) teamed up for a mammoth 112-run partnership for the third wicket which got the team more than half-way there.
Pelser departed in the 32nd over, caught and bowled by Swanepoel, but North West suffered no more dismissals. Kgamadi (49) established an unbeaten 72-run stand with van der Dussen, which got the team up to 212 with 7 wickets and 46 deliveries
still remaining.
