Question:

Ground control P-51D aircraft on FSX Acceleration?

For me, the P-51D is hard to control on the ground for taxiing purposes, etc. How can we make it more controlable, similar to the other prop aircraft. I use minimal throttle and auto rudder, but it doesn't seem to steer good, and take-off is so hard. I don't have this problem w/ any other aircraft.

Any suggestions?

  1. Your "Flight Simulator" question belongs in the GAMES section.  This is the TRANSPORTATION category, and is for questions about REAL aircraft, not pretend ones on a computer game.

  2. It doesn't really matter. Sure it's a game, but it's also a flight sim based on real life planes. I think it makes perfect sense that he's asking real flight-junkies for some help.

I have to admit, FSX has probably one of the worst modeling, however. The different supercharger settings, various oil cooling/radiator temperatures are negligible in-game and the last time I played a Microsoft Flight sim, I could control my Spitfire XIV's yaw on the ground with my ailerons... makes no sense.

Anyway, it depends what kind of uncontrollability you're experiencing. Are you having your nose shove to one side? (yaw uncontrollability - induced by propeller's slipstream; the most common handling deficiency in single-engine, single-prop planes)

  3. There is a school where you can go learn how to handle the 51
