Group Halloween costume ideas!

Question

Last year my friends and I dressed up as oompa loompas and willy wonka. I don't know what to dress up as this year though. We thought about

disney princesses

mickey mouse and friends

wheres waldo

recycle awareness stuff (trees, recycle bins, etc.)

snow white and the 7 dwarfs

and some other things. They are all decent ideas but we don't want to be something that costs to much money or that wont look good in the end if we make them ourselves. There are about 7 of us. possibly more. we don't know if others will join us. We want to be characters that are well known like last year when people saw us they were like YAY!! The oompa loompas are here! PLease give me any ideas you have and possibly a bit of a description of how to do it. Thanks!

You guys should be an unruly mob going after Frankenstein or some kind of monster. People can be dressed up as farmers or country folk with pick forks and torches and start to chase after other people with monster costumes on

Try a Glow Stick Costume.  Check out www.glowmancostumes.com --The pink GlowBot is really cool.    The costume can be seen from blocks away.  It makes you look like an animated cartoon.  My favorite is GloWitch.  If you can dance, you can take the costume to a whole new level.

Source webpage has many home made ideas that can be done cheaply from thrift store finds. Hippies, old folks, snowmen, etc. My favorite is laundry basket. People will say, "Here comes the laundry!"

Basket of laundry...clean or dirty.  

Wear sweat pants and sweatshirt if it is cold. Tights and a turtleneck if you will be in a warm building. Take an inexpensive (thin) plastic laundry basket and cut a hole in the bottom that you can fit through.  Make it small enough so that is "sits" on your hips after you pull it over your head.  Fill basket with laundry and pin a few dryer softener sheets to your sweatshirt.

You can be a team, like a football team, baseball, etc.  Or you can have the guys be the athletes and the girls be the cheerleaders.  

Grease! You can do Danny and Sandy and the whole gang!  Everyone knows them and the movie!  You can have the girls dress as the Pink Ladies and the guys as the Greasers!  The girls can get pink satiny jackets and the guys leather jackets and slick their hair back and the girls can also get the scarves and the poodle skirts, go to some thrift stores and see what you can find.  You still have time to hunt down the clothing and there are PLENTY of the Halloween stores online that sell the 50s outfits of the Poodle skirts, etc.  Sandy and Danny can dress in all black like the last scene of the movie, etc.!  Everyone knows Grease!

You can do Doctor's and Nurses, like Grey's Anatomy, or everyone dress up like a team of surgeons.

You can do some of you as movie stars and the rest as paparazzi taking pictures of you as you walk around as a group.  So half the group are the stars and half the group are the paparazzi.

You can do the Wizard of Oz, someone be Dorothy, the Tin Man, the Lion, the Witch, etc.

You can pick a fairy tale, one that has as many characters that you need.  You can do the Old Woman that lived in a shoe.  One be an old Woman and the rest of you dress up as her kids.  

You can dress up as Grandmas and Grandpas.

Winnie the Pooh, Eeyore, Rabbit, etc, if there are enough of you.

How about Smurfs?  You can have Papa Smurf, Smurfettes, Baby Smurf and all the different types of smurfs, there's Dr. smurf he can have the lab coat and scope, there's smarty smurf, etc.

You can do the Addam's Family

Flinstones, you can do Wilma, Fred, Pebbles, then Barney, Betty, BamBam, and Dino!  I'm sure you can find more to add if you need to.  There's the Martian that would come around and bug Fred, you can have someone dress up as him.

The Peanuts Gang!  Charlie Brown, Linus and his Blanket, Sally, Snoopy, Woodstock, or just carry around stuffed ones or if someone has a real beagle and it's not late at night where he'll be endangered to walk around, you can walk him with you, then there's PigPen, Schroeder with his piano, Peppermint Patty,  Marcy, there's SO many of them!  Just watch any episode or go to a book store and open a book and you can see how many there are.  There's the little red haired girl that Charlie Brown loves, there's Lucy, and there's many more you can include if more people come are added onto your night out.

Cowboys and Cowgirls

Or you can do the Dallas Cowboy Football players and the cheerleaders, everyone knows them!

You can do the Prince and Princesses from Disney, everyone knows them.  You can have Cinderella and Prince Charming, Beauty and the Beast,  Snow White and her Prince, and Ariel and her Prince, you can add on to it too, like Cinderella's Fairy Godmother, and then there's Peter Pan and there's the fairy from Peter Pan ( I can never remember her name),  and then you can add some of the Witches in from the stories, etc.

Casts from Broadway shows.  You can pick some Broadway shows that you and your friends like and dress as the cast from that show.  Like if you all like Cats, you can each pick a character and dress like that character.  

You can do Showgirls for the girls and then Pit Bosses for the guys.

You can do the Rat Pack for the guys, Frank Sinatra, Sammy Davis Jr.  Joey Bishop, and Dean Martin, and then the girls can do like Marilyn Monroe, Nancy Sinatra, etc.  Everyone knows the Rat Pack!

How about Desperate Houswives and their husbands in the show?  You can do Bree and, Lynette, Susan, and Edie and their husbands.  There's also the new Housewife that moved in, there's the extra characters like the old lady next door and the kids, etc.  

You can do s****. Doo and the Mystery Gang.  s****. Doo, Scrappy Doo, Velma, and the whole gang.

You can do characters from Sesame Street, being there's so many of the too, if more people join in, it won't matter since there's a lot of them too.  You can do Bert and Ernie, Elmo and Zoe, Big Bird, the Count, Grover, Cookie Monster, etc.
