Group Lotus and Renault will be out to win in 2011 – Dany Bahar
Group Lotus and Team Lotus have been involved in one of the most fearsome battles in the history of Formula 1. Teams have had conflicts before in the past and drivers as well but it seems that this time, it’s a major sponsor and a team fighting for rights
for the name “Lotus”. Danny Bahar along with Proton and Group Lotus believe that Team Lotus was disrespecting the infamous name Lotus which has a legacy and a rich past.
According to Team Lotus, they claim that they bought the rights for the name and they demand them to allow them to use the name. On the other hand, Group Lotus believes that Team Lotus is not doing anything that relates to Lotus in any way and despite their
partnership for the 2010 season, they are clearly not at good terms with each other and it seems that it is going to get even more “messy” in the near future.
“Given their performance this year, the structure really works so we have no plans whatsoever to change this. The Renault F1 Team have done exceptionally well with the resources they have and that’s why we are very confident - and happy - to have partnered
with them,” said Danny.
Team Lotus confirmed both of its drivers for the 2011 season. Heikki Kovalainen and Jarno Trulli are hoping for better results in the 2011 Formula 1 season and they believe that the team is coming up with a better package for next season and they will improve
vitally.
However, Renault has confirmed Robert Kubica but they are still uncertain about their second full season driver.
“Robert is confirmed, that was always clear and the team has expressed several times that Vitaly is the preferred driver for the second seat in 2011. The team hopes to make an announcement of the final driver line-up before the end of this year,” Bahar said
in an interview.
It would be interesting to see how Lotus Renault GP performs in next season as the team claims that they are not racing to just win and they are hoping that they will come up with a car that would challenge Ferrari, McLaren, Mercedes and Red Bull. The 2011
Formula 1 season is heating up as each day passes by.
Since the FIA recently announced that team orders will be allowed in 2011, it would be interesting to see how Renault works with reference to this rule change.
