There are a primary group of people who are usually thought of when the term "hero" is brought up. They are fire fighters, military, medics and police officers. My question is, why aren't lifeguards often brought up in the discussion when heroes are mentioned? Lifeguards will risk their life daily to protect people, including small children, from drowning in potentially dangerous waters. Lifeguards are also trained medics, and may rescue close to 100 people a year, if not more, depending where they work.
In your opinion, why aren't lifeguards included with fire fighters and military?
