We are all in our early 30s and would like to go to a fun sports bar that will have Red Wings fans...I've heard Hockeytown Cafe and Cheli's Chili, are these two the best options? Can we get a table if we get there at say 5:30? (Game is at 8:00).... Thanks!

  1. Don't worry about Detroit.  It is overblown as far as dangers etc. You may be involved in some rivalry and shouting, or shall I say you might not be bale to cheer the Pens on as the fans watching will drown you out and may poke fun and all.  Hockeytown Cafe will be packed with Wings fans, so definitely get there early, parking will be at a premium with the TIGER'S who play across the street all weekend. Hockeytown Cafe has all kinds of cool Wings memorabilia and was voted as the 2nd best sports bar in the country by ESPN.  Chelli's is cool also, but again, your in the middle of some rabid Detroit fans, food is suspect however, definitely better at Hockeytown.  No other places really nearby to enjoy the games as good as the 2 mentioned.   At least you will have an experience as Detroit is the Hockey capital! Have fun.  LET'S GO RED WINGS!!!!  Bringing home the cup!

  2. Hockeytown Cafe and Cheli's Chili are definitely the two best places to go but if you want a table, you had better get there before 5:30.    Both places are going to be a madhouse and anywhere on Woodward Avenue is going to be packed.

    Good luck!

  3. I highly recommend Hockeytown cafe, there a nice hockey atmosphere over there.  Place is nice, and you can get a shuttle ride to the Joe,  save you a good chunk of money and time.

I can imagine the place to be packed.  So get there as early as 4:30 to 5:00.

    Heres there website

  4. You are asking Wings fans where PENS fans should go? You are likely to end up in some pretty sketchy places. Ones that you, as a PENS fan, have never seen or dreamt up to exist. PLaces where the wrong color of car gets shot up. I would call the Chamber of Commerce in Detroit, instead of relying on a Wings fan who wants you to find your car stripped sitting on the side of the road. Detroit metro is not a friendly area as a whole. One block can make the difference. Enjoy your stay...mwuahahahahaha.

  5. The Joe Louis arena for the game.

  6. Windsor

  7. Yeah, both places are good. You can park in the ramp at the Joe and catch the tram to the stop.. I think it is 13 on the route. Chelies runs a bus back and forth to the front of the Joe every thirty minutes.......and yeah I would get there before 5p.m. Enjoy and GO REDWINGS!!!!!!!

  8. Hockeytown Cafe is a great restaurant!!!!!
