Group theme costume idea?

I have a group of 17 kids for freshman orientation and I'm supposed to come up with a costume theme to dress them up in so I can keep my group together. What are some really cool (and definitely cheap!) costume ideas that I could do?

Make them like crayons or markers! Get poster board to make signs and hats for them.

Could you get away with just doing hats?  Orientaltrading.com usually has oodles of cheap ones.

OR

Pirates are "in" right now, so you could make them all wear eye patches (also available at Oriental Trading).

Doctors - get them scrub shirts and tell them to wear jeans or scurb pants too.  

Put them in Orange and call them the Pumpkin Patch!  Orange T-shirts with green hats!

Magicians - get black capes

Smurfs - Bright blue T-shirts and have them wear them and be smurfs and smurfettes.

You can do a Team, Baseball!  get some baseball caps and some t-shirts and make them a team!  You can get a few plastic bats and have them carry them around, etc.  Make them wear sneakers and jeans and they can be their own team.  Being their Freshman, you can do their name associated with that.  Like Freshman Falcons or something like that.

Chefs - put them in all white and have them be chefs.

All black and they become waiters and waitresses and you just add a paper pad and pen!

You can make them a band.  Get some black shirts and if you go to Orientaltrading.com you can get inflatable musical instruments like you see the DJs at weddings pass out, you can have them carry them.  Orientaltrading.com is VERY reliable and their prices are awesome and they sell everything in bulk and in units, and their prices are MUCH better than even the dollar store!  You can make them be a band with sun glasses, hats, and the instruments and you can get it ALL at that one website!

Try a Glow Stick Costume.  Check out www.glowmancostumes.com --The pink GlowBot is really cool.    The costume can be seen from blocks away.  It makes you look like an animated cartoon.  My favorite is GloWitch.  If you can dance, you can take the costume to a whole new level.

well...17 kids are a lot of costumes...

so you should go as zombies...just put make up on the face and use old clothes and rip it up. :D
