Groupie Doll bags fifth straight success
November 3 was the day of Groupie Doll who beautifully extended her excellent success streak with the addition of the ace title of Breeders' Cup Filly & Mare Sprint that made the scene at Santa Anita racecourse.
Considering her four-victory unbeaten record, the punters granted the William Bradley trained chestnut filly the 4-6 favourite tag for that high-stakes contest of 10 runners.
The fervent filly fully lived up to the expectations of the bettors who had put their money on her. The huge crowd of the sport lovers too enjoyed the contest a lot.
From beginning of the end of the race, Groupie Doll remained in command, and thus, finished first quite convincingly.
The break call came at 7:35 (GMT). Groupie Doll started under R. Maragh. None of her nine rivals dared to challenge her.
The four-year-old veteran filly ran quite comfortably and bagged the clear-cut victory with the huge margin of 4 ½ lengths.
Dust And Diamonds sealed the runner-up position while Switch stood third on the podium. The fourth position went to Belle Of The Hall while Rumor earned the 5th spot.
Musical Romance came 6th and Turbulent Descent gained 7th place. With Teddy's Promise being at 8th, Great Hot and Strike The Moon finished 9th and 10th respectively.
As a whole, the contest was full of excitement and thrill. Both the punters and the spectators walked out of the stadium with smiley faces.
It was the biggest honour achieved by Groupie Doll who started his career in August 2011 with a convincing victory in the Gardenia Stakes (Grade 3) (Fillies & Mares) (Dirt).
After a few decent performances, the daughter of Bowman’s Band out of Deputy Doll marvellously won the Vinery Madison (Grade 1) (4yo+ Fillies & Mares) (Polytrack) at Keeneland on April 12.
She moved ahead to register a classy triumph at Churchill downs on May 5. That was the Humana Distaff Stakes (Grade 1) (4yo+ Fillies & Mares) (Dirt).
Groupie Doll elegantly sealed top spot in the Presque Isle Downs Masters Stakes (Grade 2) (Fillies & Mares) (Tapeta) on September 9. She summed up immense confidence by winning the Thoroughbred Club Of America Stakes (Fillies & Mares) (Grade 2) (Polytrack)
on October 6 before moving towards the Breeders’ Cup.
Thus, the filly possesses an epic track record. Hopefully, she will earn some more feats in the months to come.
