Groups without spam?

are there any groups that are without spam/spammers ruining it?

Yes, the owners have set up restrictions so that they can monitor who comes in to their group, and then some also monitor their messages closely for a time before letting them post freely.

now and then we have spammers in our groups. Why don't you go and check http://groups.yahoo.com/ ?

plenty out there- they're the ones that have restricted memberships and moderated new members- none of my groups are spammed. prevent spam takes a little effort but well worth it

so join them and check them out,  if they are full of spam, it means the moderator is AWOL  and the group is abandoned..

  start a new group and invite the members left in the abandoned group.

There are pelenty but they are all the ones that moderate. You would have to request to join and be approved for those.
