Grove Pride to extend his winning luck in the Robert Holden Novices’ Hurdle at Ludlow on 5th April

The Class 4 Robert Holden Novices’ Hurdle is to be held at Ludlow over three miles on Thursday, 5th April. Taking part in the £3, 899 event are eight four-year and older thoroughbreds.
Not all on the lineup have raced at Ludlow and neither has been able to win there.
The only entry to have won during the new season is Grove Pride, Double Trigger’s seven-year-old bay gelding out of mare Dara’s Pride. He won the British Stallion Studs EBF Reading Post “National Hunt” Novices’ Hurdle (Qualifier) on 21st January
at Ascot over two miles and three and a half furlong.
The winner, Grove Pride, was paired up with Richard Johnson and the two led the runner up of the race, Diamond Life, by a good fourteen lengths. Finishing the race third in line after the winner was Gleann Eagas.
The 11/10 favourite of the race, Hadrian’s Approach, fell during the course of the race.
His second attempt of the season was in the European Breeders’ Fund Paddypower.Com “National Hunt” Novices’ Handicap Hurdle Final (Grade 3) on 10th March at Sandown over two miles and four furlongs.
The race was won by Ambion Wood while the runner up was Carrigmorna King. The 5/1 favourite of the race, Dualla Lord, finished ninth on the lineup of eighteen.
Grove Pride on the other hand was pulled up from the race.
He is up for his third outing of the season and how successful it turns out to be provided that his seasonal debut was a victory, will surface soon. As many others, Grove Pride, has not raced at Ludlow before.
Another entry with a recent victory under the belt is Talkonthestreet, Milan’s five-year-old bay gelding out of mare Super Size.
He was the 5/6 favourite winner of the Weatherbys Bank Novices’ Hurdle on 6th March at Exeter over two miles, seven furlongs and 110 yards. He was one and a half length adrift from the runner up, Likeable Rogue.
Stationing third behind the winner was Mystic Appeal.
Before this he ended fifth in his seasonal debut in the Betdaqangel Free Betdaq Software Novices’ Hurdle on 15th February at Southwell over two miles and four and a half furlong.
