Grow taller VOLLEYBALL MYTH PLZ ANSWER MORE INSIDE! 10 POINTs?

there is a height myth that says that you can grow much taller practicing volleyball during puberty, they say it works because you stimulate your body to jump high to block balls, spikes and etc.

Then they say that your body trys to cheat itself by growing more so you do less work.

plz is this true??

I'M 15 and only 5'7.5

and im just starting puberty (yes i know im a late bloomer)

  1. no it's not true. It's just like saying you won't grow as much if you do gymnastics because if you want to become a great gymnast you need to be petite. Certain body types are better for certain sports. If your 15 and are 5' 7" you have the body type for volleyball and if you just started puberty then you will probably grow 3-5 more inches. I'm a volleyball player and i am short. I am a setter. Also, different positions need different body types. Setter, you can be tall or short. Blocker needs to be tall. Middle-back can be tall or short. And guess what! Spikers can be tall or short. My friend is a spiker and she isn't even five foot. Spikers don't depend on height. They depend on technique. In volleyball camped we practiced spiking technique while on our knees while spiking the ball over the net. When you spike it you jump but of course if your not tall enough your not going to spike it straight down because it wouldn't go over the net. Your going to hit it using the technique and your height as an advantage. Sports really aren't about height, they're about skill

LOL..no sweetie.. you're right it is a myth your height depends on your family genes 8 out of 10..take me for example..I'm 6'0-6'1..because most of my family is tall..my mom-5'9 dad 6'2 and both of my grandmas or 5'10 or 5'11...sooooo if your family is tall then you're s are going to be tall as well same with if you're family is short..

  7. As you say yourself, it's a myth.

    As long as you're getting adequate nutrition and you're not suffering from any diseases, your ultimate height is determined by genetics and so the best indicator will be how big your parents are, not how often you jump up during adolescence.
