Growing Cucumbers - Does the cucumber appear before the flower?

One says the flower must always appear first, the other says it's first a little cucumber then the flower, which is correct?

  2. i have been planting fresh plump and juicy cucumbers for years , and it's always flower first , not cucumber , the seed pod is produced once the flower is pollinated , !!

  3. The flower comes first, so the bees can do their thing and then the cucumber comes.

  4. The flower first then the fruit forms.  If you are in an area where the temps are consistently above 90 and 95 degrees the fruit may not set.  Tomatoes and cukes are two plants which won't set fruit at those high temps.
