  2. What about it?

If you want to try, your only real option is go to a garden center (or look on eBay) for an olive tree.

Growing olives from seed means it will be at least 8 years before you get any from the plant.

An established plant should take that down considerably.

  3. Olive growing is not for every location. Make sure the intended location is ideal for them.

You start with a long period before olives will be picked. You can use the space between trees to grow other crops before the olives start producing.  It is still going to be a decade before you make a real profit in olives.

It may be wise to grow other trees inter-planted with olives to slow the spread of diseases.

  4. No.  But I spent much of my life living along side of an olive orchard.  We had the itty bitty green ones, even strong without the pimento.  We also had the great big "Queen" olives.  They ripened to a dark purplish black.  Don't ever eat an olive right off the tree!  They must be pickled in some form first.
