Growing Radishes?

My mom planted radishes and they went to flower without producing any radishes. The seed packet didn't say anything about cutting off flower buds or anything so I'm not sure what went wrong. Any ideas?

  1. thats what happened to me and my mom. We only got about 10 or 15 radishes, when we had planted about 30 or 40. They flowered and we picked but they didn't work out. Thatr has never happened. Probaly too early, too late, too deep, too shallow, too much water, too less water! sorry and hope this helps!

  2. You may have planted them late, and if was very hot where you live, they "bolted" and went to seed before they had a chance to form the radish .   Radish are a cool season crop and are usually planted early in the spring or late summer when temps are low.

  3. A radish is the root. Did you pull one up? I have never had mine go to flower. I always pulled them before they did that. It only takes about 30 days from seed to radish ready to pull.

  4. radish seeds have to be planted right on top of the ground. If they are any lower then they wont form the ''bulb'' that you eat. Instead they will just grow a long stringy inedible root.
