  1. Energy use isn't bad and we will need more energy for a more industrialized population. It really isn't how much energy we use that's the problem, it is more on how we make it.

Good Ex. Nuclear Power: Will ensure energy independency for millenia at a cheap price and doesn't cause damage to the environment like. how coal gives off mercury when burned.

Bad Ex. Solar Power: highly expensive, unreliable, ineffiecient

  2. It was not so long ago, maybe 20 years or less, that the TV had pictures of city streets in China that were filled with bicycles, with almost no cars in sight. Today those streets are full of cars. China is getting rich FAST, and people are buying cars and air conditioners and heating their homes in winter (people in China didn't used to heat their homes, even in winter). And other poor countries are getting rich enough to pay for modern energy using devices too. Developed countries are not increasing their energy use nearly as fast as these developing countries. Some people want these developing countries to give up their dreams of gaining the comfortable life of western countries and also want us to give up these comforts. This of course causes a backlash by people who stand to loose a lot if that is forced upon them. You and I are doomed to loose cars and air conditioning and even heat if the most extreme  environmental extremists get their way. And of course loose our jobs and incomes if we work in an energy based job, which almost all of us do.

  3. geothermal is a readily available resource, it can heat a massive amount of homes this time of year.
