Is anyone else in the same boat as us? Don't know what to do as we don't have much space.

  1. Should of thought about that before you decided to grow your family NOT AFTER!  With thinking like that you should be an AMERICAN!  We have WAAAY too many people who like to keep growing their families and support them on money they don't have and buy big houses, cars, and take vacations and when the bank won't give them another cent they cry.  As if they're entitled to these things!

It's ruining our country and all the moronic offspring of these people.

Your gonna have to tough it out there or get another job my man.  Cold, hard, truth.

  2. Think about the old woman who lived in a shoe!

  3. My sister had three kids and her and her husband lived in a studio flat for years so you need to think yourself lucky.  Live in a lap of luxury now though :)

  4. Welcome to the new labour trend

  5. having children can apparently cost you £180,000 by the time they reach 18. so really having children is like buying a car they cost money to start with and they cost money to run however children are in general alot more expensive therefor if you wouldn't have 6 cars dont have 6 kids.

its common sense really.however i sympathise With you,why shouldn't you be able to have a nice family, if you work and own your own home! but the government is to blame.perhaps some expanding of your property is probably the only route to take, if you offer up your property to be used as advertisement then some companies even small ones will give you a discount.

    good luck

  6. Can you extend the house you live in, or have a loft conversion?

  7. Loft conversions - they dont cost very much, can provide two more bedrooms and a bathroom and much cheaper than moving.  Worth looking into.

  8. i live with my sisters in a 2 bedroom appartement there's 3 of us

  9. Piggie I'm in exactly the same spot of bother. My wife's pregnant and we live in a 2 bed prop. I can't afford to buy another place and no-one wants to buy mine! I've been looking at a number of options.

    1. Double Decker Bus Conversion- only problem is I haven't got a piece of land big enough to park it on.

    2. Argos sell log cabins for about £15grand which consist of 5 rooms. I thought I might buy one of those. It will be difficult as you have to put it together yourself, but I'm sure they can put it together for a fee. It is fully habitable and will fit in my garden without any problems. Plus, I spoke to our local council and they said that so long as it is not taller than 4 meters- you don't need planning permission. It meets all the BS requirements. It will be a nice out-house. Includes under floor heating and all.

I probably sound like a salesman but I am seriously thinking of going ahead with this. In my opinion It will cost less than a total of £25grand to do the lot. Thats a bargain for a 2 bedroomed log cabin! (coz the others will be bathroom, kitchen and living room)

  10. Reevaluate your storage situation. Can you convert a plain wall into a storage wall, i.e. bookshelf wall, cabinet wall, etc.?

Install more windows. That's what they do in Japan to make a room look bigger. In fact, research more on what Japanese people are doing to cope with increasingly smaller homes. They make manufactured homes that can be shipped. They are a marvel of space saving.

Look at what Ikea has to offer in terms of storage. It's not as expensive as other places, and they have ideas for making 300 square foot areas (sorry, don't know metric) more manageable.

Have a yard sale (car boot sale? sorry, American here) to get rid of clutter. Tip: say yes to any offer.  The point is to get rid of your stuff. Any money made after that is just a bonus.

Look into loft furniture. They have ones at Ikea that have a high bed with room for a desk underneath. Install a curtain to cover the under bed area, and you have instant storage space.

Do more outdoor activities. If you spend a couple of days using your house as a place just for sleeping and eating, the house won't seem as small. You have a whole world out there for entertainment.

All these ideas are cheaper than buying a new house. Other than that, maybe you can become one of those house sitters who take care of rich people's houses when they go on holiday.

  11. yeah we are 3 boys in one room & little girl in another & a box room that you couldn't get a cot in if you tried
