What types of plants can you grow from cuttings?

African Violets, Begonias and Fuchsia;

But how can I tell with any plant whether it will grow from cuttings?

Is there a certain family or something?

  1. I simply try to put cuttings in water to see if they take root.  Some plants ie. Jade plants, african violets can simply be started with a leaf carefully plucked from a healthy plant and placed in good quality soil.  Trial and error will give you tremendous happiness when you see new growth!

  2. I like mom's answer.  May I also suggest an eye dropper tiny amount of B1 for plants (not humans) it encourages healthy root growth and it is good for transplanting to lessen shock.
