Question:

Growing my own sprouts?

I love to grow my own alfalfa sprouts in a jar. But I recently moved to a place where it is VERY humid and it is hard to grow sprouts in hot humid temps. It is almost always 70% humidity or more during the summer. They are not growing very well. Any ideas? I moved from a dry place so I never had a problem before.

  1. I used to grow them alot when we lived in Southern California.  I've never thought about humidity affecting them!   Maybe a little table fan, kept blowing on them would help ... or place them under an air conditioning vent......And, this sounds weird, but I heard that a mesh bag of white chalk will absorb moisture in closets & pantrys!  Maybe put some pieces of white chalk near them and see if that works!  (it can't hurt them:)

  2. Sorry, alfalfa can't grow in humid climates.

You can do something small like the answerer above mentioned but that's about it. Keep it in a dry area like near an air conditioner.
