  1. Yes it is possible. A lot of the fruit has either been irradiated or is from sterile crosses (hybrids) but any that are fertile will sprout and grow a tree.

You had better be patient though. a lot of fruit trees take years to start producing fruit.

  2. Watching a tree grow from seeds is interesting but may be disappointing!  There is no guarantee that the fruit produced from the seeds will be as good as the fruit that produced it!  A lot of the commercial growers of fruit trees use grafting onto a sturdy rootstock!  Also, depending upon your location, the tree may not survive winters or the winters may not get cold enough to induce blooming in the spring!  A neighbor here in south Texas grew an avocado tree that got too large for inside the house.  He planted it in a sheltered area but now that it has gotten taller than the house, it get frozen back when there is a hard freeze.  He hasn't gotten fruit from that tree.

If you want to grow some citrus, you can get dwarf trees that produce normal sized fruit.
