Grumier Gauthier attains the top place once again in the FIE Men’s Foil Ranking: Fencing News
The 2010 World Silver Medallist, Grumier Gauthier, once again attained the first position in 2010-11 World Rankings for Men’s Epee that were updated by the FIE after June 2011 World Cup tournaments.
French Gauthier was at the top place for the month of April, but could not retain it for the next month. Hungarian Gabor Boczko slid Gauthier down and captured the top place in the month of May. But Gauthier once again retained his actual place after
his tremendous performance in the month of June 2011.
Gauthier took part in two international competitions in June 2011. On June 4, he participated in the Berne Grand Prix that took place in Switzerland. He lost the semi-final bout against Imre Geza from Hungary with a score-line of 15-14. He was placed
third in the competition and was honoured with a bronze medal. In Berne Grand Prix, Gauthier secured 30 points for World Rankings. Geza won a silver medal in the competition and he amazingly entered in the Top 10 list as number seventh fencer. The event was
captured by the Switzerland’s Max Hienzer. He also entered in the top 10 list of World Fencing as the number eighth-seeded fencer.
In June 17, Gauthier participated in the 2011 Epee World Cup Buenos Aries in Argentina. He successfully compensated his previous competition’s points by winning the final at Buenos Aries Cup. Gauthier took the stunning gold medal victory over the Korean,
Won Jin Kim, and secured the first place in the competition with 32 ranking points. The collectively points from both the victories were able to clutch him with first position once again.
