Question:

Grundfos Heating Pump Problem?

I need help on trying to figure whats wrong with my heater pump. We had a leak in the pipes and had to shut off the water. We unplug the pump from the power. After we fixed the leak, we plug the pump back in. Now the pump is making a beeping noise every 30 seconds and the pump gets really hot. So is there a problem with the pump or do i need to reset it somewhere? thanks

  1. There is probably an air lock in the line so the pump is running without water, that's why its so hot.  Loosen a fitting down stream from the pump and turn the water back on.  Be careful because if the pump is hot some steam will escape.  Once water starts re tighten the connection and it should be OK.

  2. There is a backed (clogged)up strainer on it.Shut it off, find it, and clean the strainer.

  3. The pump has frozen or stuck probably from some loose debris or a piece of solder from the repair. You need to free up the pump and you may have to replace it.
