Grunting bunny?!?

my girl rabbit constantly grunts, when i hold her, pet her, walk by, sit with her, feed her, always. the only acception is when i start petting her a LOt, i have to keep still and pet her then she'll stop, but if like, i move my leg and she's on my lap, she'll start again. what does this mean?! my boy doesn't do it..

  1. She could be in heat.  Mine do that all the time.  It is a territorial thing.  Its kind of a rude noise to make for them.  She's warning you.  Females do this a lot as they seem to be the more aggressive (or at least have more attitude) gender.  She'll eventually have to get used to the idea that you're the boss.  If she isn't spayed and she's in heat, you should expect this kind of attitude from her periodically (I even have one that nips a bit when she's in heat).  I know this is a disorganized answer but its late.... let me know if I can clarify it.


  2. There are two meanings to their grunts, if your bunny is grunting softly then it is their way of expressing their love for you. If it grunting louder it usually means its irratated or mad and is about to attack.

  3. My rabbit did the same thing. I always wondered that too. I just assumed that it wanted attention, but I was never sure.

    Edit: Being in heat would explain that pretty well...
