  1. As a fan of UFC and GSP being 1 of my favorites I'LL say this, He makes his mistakes once. Matt Hughes and Serra both beat GSP, but the 2nd time around different story. BJ is a very good fighter, but look out for GSP to finish it early just to make up for the somewhat "poor" perfromance the last time around.

  2. Dude...watch the first fight...like everyone else said, Penn anihalated St. Pierre in the 1st round...could have been a 10-8 round, that fight could have gone either way and with BJ's new deidication to mma I think he can beat St. Pierre.

  3. Dana White already said the BJ has to go through the Lightweight division first. He still has to fight the winner of Roger Huerta vs Kenny Florian. If he beats them then Dana said the GSP vs Penn matchup might happen if GSP defends his title against Jon Fitch.

kcbf, you claim to be a true fight fan but GSP would have to go down in weight or BJ would have to go up. BJ has already won the title at Welterweight so I'd imagine it would be at 170. Come on, Lightweight is less than Welterweight.

  4. man did you watch the first fight. bj penn kicked the c**p out of st peirre but gsp had more control in the second and third but still never once hurt penn. he didn't pass his guard at all and the only significant damage penn took was a couple of leg kicks. gsp looked like another person at the end of that fight. penn looked tired. and that was when bj was not even training right. now this could be the fight of the century. I think bj could take the belt from him. plus we don't even know if gsp has the heart to keep the belt(he probably does but we truly do not know)

  5. Did you see their first fight? The only offense GSP could muster was a take down in the second and third rounds, nothing else.

B.J. said it best GSP went to the hospital B.J. went to the bar.

I'm a big fan of both men but if B.J. hadn't gassed out in the second round he would have won that fight and there is no reason for me to believe he couldn't win the rematch.

  6. It would be a great fight, they both look like they are in their primes.  I am not a fan of either, but I would pull for GSP and think he would pull off the win.

  7. It would be a great fight, but I dont want to see it happen.

Anyone who seriously follows MMA (more than they see on Spike TV) can testify that BJ Penn is arguably the most tallented figher out there and could beat anyone any given day. In the recent fight against Sherk he won with his strikes in impressive fashion and thats not even what he is known for. He is known as a B. Ju Jitsu guy.

GSP is a great fighter as well. GSP is not a world beater, he has lost to a few guys... whats amazing is he has not lost to the same person twice (including Hughes and Serra).  He is smart and fixes his gameplan each time.

Fact of the matter is this, Dana White doesnt want them to fight and they wont. He is better with two different champions and two fan pleasers than having one beat the other. Another issue is at which weight do they fight? BJ could drop down but I think he would lose some of his strength and explosiveness. GSP could go up and be a bit smaller than Penn. They could also fight at a median and not put the titles on the line but what fun is that?

  8. Watch Penn vs. Hughes rematch.  Watch Hughes vs. St. Pierre rematch.  Done deal for GSP.  I see alot of people argueing that the last performance would be indicitive of the rematch, except that Penn is better now.  I disagree... Penn is just in better shape now, hes the same fighter (only lighter).  GSP is worlds better than he was back then... not to mention an eye gouge led to a majority of the damage on GSP's eye the first fight.  Not to take anything away from Penn, he will rule the lightweight division for some time, but he'll get manhandled and humbled (as much as BJ can be humbled) by a much better, much more diverse GSP.

  9. If Matt Serra can beat GSP then BJ could definitely have a shot, BJ is very talented.
