Guan Tianlang to make golf history in Augusta National
The Chinese golfer, Guan Tianlang, came into the spotlight after he became the youngest player in the history of the European Tour to participate in a tour event.
China has been producing some excellent golfers recently and whether or not the young Tianlang is to be ranked amongst the talented fresh faces is debatable.
The frail structure of the Chinese golfer is a disadvantage to his game. He weighs 57 kilograms and is almost five feet eight inches tall.
Tianlang drives the ball on an average of 250 yards, uses the anchored long-handle putters and a cross-handed grip.
The youngster won the Asia-Pacific Amateur Championship this year and, by participating in the Augusta National next year, he will make history by becoming the youngest golfer ever to do so.
In the Australian Open, it was seen that Tianlang usually plays those high-flying shots that can be a source of botheration on a windy day.
When a golfer plays shots that lack the penetration power and the required flight, then the control over the ball minimizes. This is what the young Chinese lacks in his game.
In order to compete at such a high level amongst the best in the business, when he starts off in the Augusta National, he will have to improve on his game, to save himself from any sort of embarrassment on the fairways.
Marc Leishman, who played alongside the young Chinese golfer in Australia, said that Tianlang has a very strong will power. He comes back from the tightest of situations.
Leishman went on and added that, although the Chinese golfer has a few things that he needs to work on, he has a very well developed overall game. He can strike any shot in the book.
Leishman went on defending Tianlang by saying that he is still very young and has considerable time on his side to improve on his game.
Tianlang will have to further polish some aspects of his game before the Augusta National starts. If he manages to do so, the Chinese will definitely catch the attention of the media.
