  1. When you book a guarantee, that guarantees that u will get a cabin that can accommodate the number in your party and whether you chose and inside or ocean view cabin, also the cabin can be in any location on any deck. With the Carnival Conquest from Galveston, that ship is usually sold out being that it is the only Carnival ship from Texas that does 7 day cruises. The maximum persons in the cabin is 4. So if you did an inside guarantee and those are sold out your next option are ocean view cabins, then balconies and I've even seen on some occasion where persons get upgraded to Suites. Suites are really nice.

So just enjoy your cruise and there is nothing to worry about. Carnival really looks out for their guests.

  2. You can book a guarantee for more than two people.

It's generally Pullman-style "upper" beds that come out of the wall or ceiling for the third and fourth paxs. Bottom bedding is generally two twins. They can usually be configured together or apart but only when there are no more than two pax in the cabin.

The lines know how many people you booked in the room. You tell them during the booking process. No, they won't put four people in a room that only accomodates two.

  3. If you are looking for a "quad" cabin (holds 4 people) you will not be able to get a guarantee.  There are only so many cabins on a ship that will hold 4 people.  Therefore you will have to book an assigned cabin.  Guarantee cabins are only available to double occupancy.

This is how it works:  Inside cabins have at least 4 catagories, for instance lets say  ABC&D.  D is the lowest catagory and therefore the least expensive.  It is usually on the first deck.  AB & C are usually located on a higher deck with bettter positioning on the ship.  With a guarantee you will pay the price of a D but have a very good chance of being upgraded to a higher catagory.  You will not know where your cabin will be until you board the ship.

Unless the cruise line has a special promotion at the time you are booking your chances of being upgraded to a oceanview or a balcony are pretty slim.

    Hope this helps.

  4. I have been on a lot of cruises but I have never done a guarantee booking.  But I will give you an answer about cabins based on my experience with almost 20 cruises.

Cruise ships have cabins that have two twin beds that they can push together to make a queen or leave separate (you specify whether you want them together or not),  Then the cabins that accommodate 4 people generally have (depending upon the ship and cabin) a full size sofa bed, or beds that pull down from the ceiling (like on a train sleeper car) or a wall.  Sometimes the cabin may be large enough for a three bed configuration and another bed is made from a "pulldown".

The cruise line knows which cabins have accommodations for four.  In fact if you go to the cruise line web sites, most will have the deck plans showing cabins and a footnote showing those cabins for 4 people.  So if you get  a guarantee they already know all of the options for where you can be placed.

The purpose of the cruise line selling guarantees is to help sell more cabins.  Within each cabin category there are generally 2 or 3 subcategories where the cabin is slightly larger, on a higher deck, or in a more desirable position on ship like mid-ship.  So if they can get people to buy the lowest priced cabin in a category and sell all of them, then they can move the guarantees up within the same category (like outside) to the larger cabin, more desirable location, and/or higher deck.  In those cases you may or may not get bumped up to a higher category like a balcony or suite.

So you do not have to "make a note" since the number of people is a part of your reservation.
