Guard Mitch Petrus replaces injured Steve Hutchinson on Tennessee Titans active roster – NFL News
The Tennessee Titans have made a couple of changes to the squad this week because of an injury scare to their veteran guard Steve Hutchinson, although the reshuffle might not have a major impact on the performance of the team, particularly in the context
of their preparedness for wins in the remaining four games of the season.
Hutchinson injured his right knee in the game versus the Houston Texans on Sunday December 02 and probably requires a surgery to fix it. The team has not divulged much on nature and scope of the injury except that the player has hurt the knee.
He as of the latest has been placed on the injured reserve list, and the team have found a replacement for him on the roster, indicating the season might well be over for the veteran.
Guard Mitch Petrus is replacement for Hutchinson. He has been picked up off New England Patriots’ waivers. Although the team confirmed his signing on Wednesday, none of the parties have disclosed terms of the contract that the new signee has been handed
down by the managers.
It is pertinent to mention that offensive lineman position has frequently been hit by the injury blows since training camp in August. Hutchinson is the fourth lineman who has been placed on the IR, and this leaves only left tackle Michael Roos as an active
player on the roster.
Interestingly, Roos has not practised this week so far. He too has knee problem – a sore knee – which is alright as far as the prospects for his participation in this weekend game are concerned. He is the key player left along with the new signee Petrus
for the Titans, who as a last resort have been rethinking their strategy to put up some respectable showdown on the field for the remaining four games.
The Titans at 4-8 in American Football Conference (AFC) South are heading for ending of another worst season. If they are unable to pull off a win from remaining four games, they will go down even worse than 2010 when they finished the season at 6-10.
