With Barcelona facing Chelsea in the UEFA Champions League semi-final, reports regarding Guardiola being Roman Abramovich’s next target are becoming vivid.
Josep Guardiola is currently enjoying his time at the Catalan capital and has helped Barcelona reach dizzying heights in the past four years with the club.
The Catalan tactician joined Barcelona back in 2008 and since then he has helped them with 13 out of the available 16 titles.
In 2008-2009, Barcelona emerged to be one of the strongest teams in the world, winning all the six titles at hand, becoming the first team ever to win a sextuple in not only http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Spain-c3011, but in the world.
Second season saw Barcelona taking over the Spanish La Liga title along with the Copa del Rey; and in the third season, Guardiola was able to win a European double by winning the UEFA Champions League and the Spanish La Liga.
This season, however, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Barcelona-c38604’s form has dwindled. The Catalan giants are trying too hard to win the Spanish La Liga; however, their arch-rivals, Real Madrid, are currently leading the points table with 4 points.
Moreover, Jose Mourinho’s men have also managed to reach the semi-final stage of the UEFA Champions League. The only triumph over Madrid which Barcelona can be proud of came in the Copa del Rey, where Barcelona have managed to reach the final of the competition.
Josep Guardiola still has a chance to prove it to the world that his side are one of the best. They can still win the Champions League and the Copa del Rey after winning FIFA Club World Cup, the Spanish Super Cup and the European Super Cup. La Liga is also
in touching distance as Barcelona still have to play Madrid at the Nou Camp.
With so much success attributed to Josep Guardiola, and Stamford Bridge still looking for ‘the perfect man’, it is believed that the Catalan coach might be the one replacing Andres Villas Boas in London.
However, Josep Guardiola has dismissed all such notions and has said that the move to the London club is a fantasy and with Champions League semi-final right around the corner, there is no time to talk about such things.
Josep Guardiola said:
"It is fantasy, it's hypothetical.
"I am coach of Barcelona now and they have a good manager who is getting unbelievable results.
"It's not useful for http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 or for Barcelona to talk about that. There is no time to talk about that."
Chelsea host Barcelona at the Stamford Bridge on Wednesday, 18 April, 2012.
