  1. I agree with what the previous answerer said about giving your love to whomever regardless.  However, sadly, a very large percentage of adoptions in Guatemala are illegal and corrupt, and you never know if you are working with an illegal agency.  The European Union bans adopting in Guatemala for this reason and the United States has and is currently considering it.  I personally know one woman who has a baby yearly and sells it.  It has unfortunately become a business for some woman here and in this respect causes a need that isn't really there to the extent that many American adopters believe it to be.  This is not to say that legitimate agencies don't exist or that there is no need at all.  Hope this helps y hay le manda saludos a su hijo chapin!

  2. I know a number of people in our small community who have adopted from Guatemala and a couple of other Central American countries.

For the most part, you are (you hope, anyway) taking a child from a situation where they would be poor all their lives, and giving them a loving home where they will have a chance at having everything any American kid has the chance for.

It's a good thing.  Assuming, of course, the child was adopted legally, and put up for adoption legally.  (not from your end, of course, but one hears about kidnappings and doing it for the money earned and such)

I think it's a really good idea to try to give the child a sense of pride in their background, too.  Make sure they understand who they are and where they come from and how they came to be where they are.

  3. I agree completely, when being adopted those children have better opportunities and  they can receive love and better conditions of life.

  4. I think that adoption is an option.  If you have enough love and resources to take care a child, it doesnt matter where the child was born. The only important thing is that the baby has a home with love and care.  The children are a blessing.  And I think that... if I could to get pregnate, I will to adopt a child from Guatemala, they are my people.

I agree with ambassador too. Its sad that many of the adoptions are illegal and it becames a bussines to some people.  Whatever if the child is born is an option give him-her a home, that to spend a lot of money in artificiallly  conception.
