Question:

Guess the breed of mule

Got a new mule! She's awesome...she is 15.2 and is a red dun. Her name is Abigail. Any guesses as to what her momma was? We were thinking TB maybe? What do you TB owners think? How about you mule riders out there any guesses.....Thanks

  1. She's one gorgeous mule!  Seen a fair few mules in my day.

    She does seem to have a ThoroughBred like stature to her, but a Quarter Horse temperament.  Could she possibly be from a mix-bred dam?  I would almost be willing to say an Appendix mare and the Jack.  

    Her chest looks more quarter horse too.  The shoulder slope looks Thoroughbred to even standard-bred like.  

    Could be any body's guess really.  I'm just working on what she appears to look like.


  2. She sure is a good looking mule. But Guessing the breed of the dam is really hard especially if you don't know what either the mare or jack looked like. The bigger head could have easily come from a clunky headed jack or a larger headed mare.

    Either way the rest of her body is FAR to light to be a draft cross.

    So you are looking at a light riding type horse.

    I'm gonna guess she's not gaited so that drops most of the gaited crosses, but overall that leaves you with alot of choices. Did you buy her from the breeder or some one else? if from some one else did you research her brand?


  3. I don't see TB at all honestly.

    She is drafty in the head, so I am thinking moreso a draft cross.

    TB mules have a more refined head typically, she doesn't have the mammoth head either.

    He is a TB mule.. That might help you see the difference.

  7. They're all beautiful !  She looks smooth, even light in the body.  She really makes me think (hold on) Saddlebred ?  Just strikes me as Saddlebred.  Wat'r the odds?
