Guess the correct diagnosis! Allergies or bacterial infection or other?

I am taking my friend's cat to the vet tomorrow. She's 2 years old and has puffy, watery, red eyes. She is also squinting her eyes a lot. She is not sneezing or coughing, and is otherwise acting normally. She is eating normally too.

What do you think it is? Allergies? A bacterial infection? Or other?

Whoever is right when i get back from the vet tomorrow will get best answer!

  1. My older cat once had ringworm around his eye and it looked like he had an eye infection.  For your sake, and the cat's, I hope it's not ringworm, and something easier to clear up.

  2. Probably allergies.

    Good luck!

  3. irritation

  4. It's nearly impossible to know with the little info you give, but my guesses in order of most likely.

Calici virus:  All cats have it, flare ups cause many different symptoms.

Irritant of some sort:  Fertalizer, cleansers, lots of stuff irritate cats.

Infection: Cats produce amazing amounts of pus and get infected quite easily.

Foreign body:  Something stuck in her eye/nose.

Abuse:  Not necessarily your friend, but lots of people are mean.

  5. Any kind of allergic reaction can cause eye redness and puffiness. These two, together with itchy eyes, are usually a symptom of a mild allergic reaction.
