  1. Hi, I just got my MS in School Counseling.  I got my BA in Psychology.  I was not a teacher first, teaching was not for me.  Schools want to know that you can work well within a school system, so they do like to see that you have some experience in schools.  I'm in Chicago and I can't find a job for this year... there are some reasons for that other than availability, however there are not a ton of jobs here.  I really enjoyed my internship.  It was fun.. like not even work.  If you are just beginning and have your heart set on this career... I would get my Bachelors in Education.. become a teacher (h.s. or elementary)and then get your Masters in School Counseling.
