Guide for learning to swim?

I am interested in learning how to swim..

Are there any guides or books that teach so?

Just looking for the best guide, not worried about the price. thanks in advance

maybe look into a private lesson.

every swimteam coach or swimmer would love to make money off of helping someone to swim.!

Swimming is not something you can learn from a book. Get some swimming goggles and go to the pool, flail about and learn to relax/float. Once you are comfortable in the water sign up for some lessons, it is a much better way to spend your money.

The best way to learn-to-swim is in a class taught by a properly trained and well experienced instructor.  Check with your local Red Cross, YMCA, Parks & Recreation Departments, or Private Swim School to find appropriate classes.  Using a professional instructor will ensure that learning to swim is relatively easy, plus being safe and fun!

I recommend the American Red Cross publication "Swimming and Diving".  There are also videos that are available illustrating some of the concepts in the book.  However, this  is not a good substitute for proper professional instruction.

Get swimming lessons.

Oh & when you are practicing try your best NOT to do the doggy paddle.

It'll seem hard at first because that's what people naturally do, but you'll get used to not doing it.
