Hi, Im arriving in terminal 4 in LA from Sydney on Sunday at 6am. This is the first time Ive been to USA and ill be travelling alone so if anyone can tell me what it will be like when i get there, what ill have to do and how long it will take to clear customs and collect baggage. I then have a flight at 8.45am to Dallas and Im worried I will miss it if anything goes wrong or I get lost. Any advice would be great thanks :)

  1. You will be ok since your connecting flight is domestic. I have to admit, LAX is an easy airport to get lost in (and I've been to my share of airports). For International connecting flights you have to actually walk from one terminal to another and it isn't clearly marked at all. Especially if your connecting flight to Dallas is on the same airline, you'll definitely be fine. Either way, there are a lot of people to ask, just ask one of the officers on your way out of customs and they'll tell you right where to go. You have nothing to worry about, just don't be shy!

  2. ok cool ill see you there...ill be holding the sign that says "mj" then ill answer you there

but really just figure out where the terminal is for your second flight and ask someone who works at the airport to direct you there

  3. LAX is not a bad airport to go through customs in.  Terminal 4 is where American Airlines and many of their OneWorld Alliance members will be.  I think the 2 hours and 45 minutes should be enough as I do not anticipate there being a lot of international flights arriving at that time.

Even if for some reason you miss your flight, American Airlines has a number of flights between Los Angeles and Dallas (American is based in Dallas).
