Guidelines for addressing a place?

Is there an order we should observed? Like smallest to the biggest, from a house number to a Country there are state, city, county,province,area, road, streets, lanes etc.. which is bigger and which are smaller? Is a prefecture bigger than a province? Would someone list from smallest to the biggest. Thanks..

    I'm afraid your question can't be answered fully because there's no set rule to determine, in a strict order which is the biggest/smallest. The use of these terms sometimes is contrasting from country to country. What is big somewhere may not be so big elsewhere.

In others it is an autonomous level of government and constituent part of a federation or confederation, often with a large area (similar to a US state)
