The Manchester City striker has expressed his disappointment at not becoming Dutch champions during his season-long loan spell at De Kuip Stadion.
Manchester City striker, John Guidetti, has regretted at not winning the Eredivisie title with http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Feyenoord-c39258 Rotterdam.
The Swedish attacker spent the entire 2011/12 season on loan at De Kuip Stadion, and made headlined for all the good reasons week in week out after putting in dazzling performances upfront.
The talented youngster netted an impressive 20 goals while setting up eight more in 23 league games while donning the jersey of the Rotterdammers until the end of his loan spell.
It was his inspiring showings that helped the Rotterdam giants to put in a title challenge. However, his showings alone were not enough for the Stadiumclub to lift the title at the end of the campaign, as they finished the 2011/12 season at the second spot
on the table, six points behind the eventual title winners, Ajax Amsterdam.
And Guidetti, who has yet to make his debut for Manchester City since his arrival at Etihad Stadium in the summer of 2009, has insisted that the Rotterdammers have no one to blame for not becoming Dutch champions but themselves.
“It is our own fault that we did not become champions. We dropped points that we didn’t need to drop. I will always look back at pride on the year we had, but I will always think that we could have done better. We should have won”, the Swedish international
was quoted as saying to RTV Rijnmond.
The Rotterdammers management were reportedly interested in making the 20-year-old’s stay at De Kuip Stadion permanent, but City denied letting go of the Swedish attacker, who eventually had to leave Feyenoord at the end of the 2011/12 season to return to
Etihad Stadium. However, he has failed to feature for the English champions thus far, as he is still recovering from injury.
After failing to keep Guidetti at De Kuip Stadion, the Rotterdam giants managed to lure Graziano Pelle on a season-long loan deal from Parma as a replacement for the Swedish striker. The 27-year-old has thus far not disappointed with his performances, netting
14 goals in 14 Eredivisie games.
