Guillaume Rufin routs Radu Albot in the second round – Prosperita Open 2012 CH

Third seed, Guillaume Rufin of France, did not face much difficulty in ending the challenge of world number 246, Radu Albot, in straight sets 6-4, 6-2 in the second round at the Prosperita Open in Ostrava, Czech Republic on Thursday.
Rufin hit a blow to the Moldovan in the opening game of the match and held his following serve, attaining a 2-0 lead. Albot broke back after a severe fight to even out the score at 4-4. However, all his efforts got wasted, as Rufin
grabbed two straight games to close it 6-4.
The French banged in three aces and 70 percent of the first deliveries, securing 17 of the 26 points on them. He continuously attacked Albot’s second serves, winning six of the nine points on them. On the other hand, the Moldovan
could not hit any ace and committed a couple of double faults in the opener.
In the second set, Rufin snatched breaks in the third and fifth game, capitalising on them to race to a 4-1 lead. Albot struck back in the sixth to reduce the trail to 2-4 but lost his serve once again, going down 2-5. Rufin did
not allow the Moldovan to fight back this time, clinching it 6-2.
The French delivered one ace and 46 percent of the first serves, converting nine of the 11 of them into points. The Charnay, France resident played even better than the previous set on his opponent’s second deliveries, as he won
eight of the nine points on them. The 21-year-old converted three of the four break points he received and saved two of the three he faced in the second set.

Rufin required an hour and 36 minutes to come out victorious from the encounter.
The Frenchman has a 2-4 win/loss record on the ATP World Tour this season. He gave his breakthrough performance at his home event of Open Sud de France, where he upset the then world number 16, Feliciano Lopez of Spain, in straight
sets 7-6(5), 6-3 in the second round.
Rufin will now take on seventh seed, Dusan Lojda of Czech Republic, in the quarter-final.
