barely one hour and seventeen minutes, with Garcia-Lopez emerging successful with a 6-2, 6-4 score-line. The two players have never met on the court prior to this.
Garcia-Lopez will take on thirteenth seed Richard Gasquet in the second round of the tournament, after his French opponent defeated Uzbekistan’s Denis Istomin in his opening match at Monte Carlo.
Albert Montanes defeats Xavier Malisse 6-4, 6-2
Another Spanish pro Albert Montanes won big at the 2011 ATP World Tour Masters 1000 Monte Carlo, undoing Belarusian tennis pro Xavier Malisse to proceed to the next round of the ATP tournament. The match lasted just over one hour
and twenty minutes, and Montanes concluded the meeting with a 6-4, 6-2 victory. This is a score-line almost identical to the one achieved by his compatriot, Guillermo Garcia-Lopez. World Number 23 Albert Montanes scored his first win over Malisse to bring

French tennis pro and seeded player Gilles Simon scored an easy victory over Brazil’s Thomaz Bellucci at the first round on the clay courts of Monte Carlo, ousting his opponent in straight sets 6-3, 6-2 in under one hour and thirty-five
minutes. The match was an easy one for Simon, who is currently ranked World Number 24 and has beaten Bellucci once before. Their head to head record is now 2-0 to Gilles Simon.
The seeded French pro will be fighting it out with Spanish player Albert Montanes in the second round of the 2011 ATP World Tour Masters 1000 Monte Carlo.
