Guillermo Parada and Vasco Vascotto satisfied with team’s effort: 2011 Audi TP52 World Championships
Italy’s Audi Azzurra Sailing Team did not have a good start at Sardinia, as the crew set sail on the first day of 2011 Audi TP52 World Championships and finished on fifth place after a couple of lower berths in both races of the day. However, Audi Azzurra
Sailing Team helm, Guillermo Parada and tactician, Vasco Vascotto are satisfied with the team’s performance so far.
Weather conditions on the first day of 2011 Audi TP52 World Championship were lighter, as the wind gusted around the race course from eight to ten knots. The first race was not a good start for the Italian team, as they ended fifth and crossed the finish
line on fourth position in the second race. Despite that, Parada and Vascotto congratulated the crew and were satisfied with the team’s progress.
While speaking to local reporters at the conclusion of Day 1, Parada said, “It was pretty good conditions, the wind was very light and we defend in the best possible way, but with these conditions our boat suffers a lot. Our target was to close the day in
the best way, and we'll keep working in the same way hoping to have more wind in the next days to start to attack.”
Vascotto added, “I have to congratulate the crew. They fought like lions and regulated the sails perfectly for every tiny gust. As for myself I only have one small regret, when in the first race perhaps we could have finished fourth, but in general the tactics
were good too. It's the first time this year that we have raced with such light winds and we did well.”
