I have a short haired guinea pig, and was wondering if it's necessary to bathe it? I mean, will it really benefit cleaning the pig along the way or will bathing it make it just as happy?

  1. not really but they do smell a lot better!

  2. no just brush it if necessary

  3. you should try to use a wet wash cloth on you guinea pig if you want to bathe it, but normally guinea pigs keep pretty clean.

just please don;t put it in the bath tub with water in it my girl friend did that with her two guinea pigs and the female was shaky for over a day acting cold, even though we kept her in a towel to warm her up she died.

  4. No please do not bathe him.  It isn't necessary or recommended.  They are like cats.  They clean themselves.  Bathing them would put them under stress and possibly put them into shock where they could die from a heart attack.  If you want to clean it just wipe it with some baby wipes.

  5. You don't need to bathe a guinea pig unless it gets something on it. Then just use a wet washcloth.
