Guinea Pig Help(MD/DC/VA)?

I had a guinea pig that I really loved that died recently..

My parents are urging me to buy another one.. After much thought, I said yes..

My guinea pig that dies was bought from petsmart..

Should I buy there again? Or look for a breeder or adopt from a shelter or rescue?

And does it matter if they are neutered/spayed?

Male or Female?

Plz help..

Thanks..

I live in Maryland. So if you have any links for places that have guinea pigs in the MD area, Northern VA, or DC area..

Thanks..

And I want a guinea pig that is under a year old..

I found one rescue organization..

  1. OMG IM IN MARYLAND. I think it will be nice if you adopt one , but all the shelters for guiney pigs and stuff are far away so, you should buy ne in petsmart, also, males are more friendly ( wierd right)?

  2. i wuold adopt one

  3. well. 2 things if you want a pet, rescue are good organizations. private breeders and petsmart are really close, i trust petsmart with all of my animals. make sure that you  are happy, also, make 100% sure that hge is under a year old, because in a few months you mighit wanna breed them the poubic bone fuses at 8 months so the babies are unabole to be pushed out and wil kill the mother and the babies withou an emergency Cesarean Section. As for shelters, if they were abused they are probably not going to want to be held because they have lived in fear so i would go to petsmart and by a baby. :) Good luck.
