Guinea Pig Plz!! Help!!!!!?

My guinea pig is loosing skin and hair plz help

No I am not a bad owner

When we first got him he had patches of fur missing.

We called my aunt and she said that was from the other Guinea Pigs biting him.PLZ! HELP!!!!!!!!

P.S there is a girl guinea pig in a different.Cage could it be stress.Cause he is not with the girl.

IT NEEDS TO GO TO A VET ASAP. it can be as simple as allergies and stress or it coulld be a serious problem.

it could be stress, or it could be a skin condition. Maybe give him a bath, if he has dry skin. BUT, to be on the safe side I'd take him to the vet. It could be anything really and it's hard to guess, the vet would know for sure. If you can't afford the vet, try calling and seeing what they suggest.

It could be several things.

Mites:

They are microscopic and cannot be seen with the naked eye. They cause intense itching and scratching. As a result of the scratching, the skin is usually broken open. The wounds can become infected quickly so antibiotics should be given. This can be treated with Ivermectin by a vet. Mites are not contagious to humans.

Fungal Infection:

Ringworm (not really a "worm"--its a fungal infection of the skin) causes patchy hairloss and itching. The scratching can cause open wounds. It can be cleared up with antifungal medication from a vet. This is contagious to humans.

Bites from other pigs:

Yes, this can cause hair loss and wounds. If there is another pig in the cage & they are fighting (biting) they need to be separated. You should see a vet for antibiotics so the wounds don't abscess.

Never put triple antibiotic ointment (Neosporin) on a guinea pig. One of the medications in this ointment is toxic if ingested and yes, your pig will try to l**k it off.

The hairloss is not stress related or related to the sow in the next cage.

if you put him in w/the girl expect to have babies soon.  my piggies kept having babies cause he was jumping out of his home while i was at work and mating with my girl piggie.  once she was already pg and i let them be together cause he was whining and she had the babies and got pg again while i was at work.  babies are beautiful but easy to get out of control....

try puting hi in the cage with the girl and if that dos not work then i would take him to the vet as soon as possibe
