  1. The best thing to do would to keep two females. They do not fight, cannot make babies, and do not smell bad like some males. I have two girls and they are absolutley sweet to each other. I love them!

  2. It really depends upon the personality of the pigs. I have seen all of those combinations get along & not get along.

Your best bet is to go to a reputable guinea pig rescue and adopt an already bonded pair. Then you are assured a good match. The added bonus is that these pigs have already been quarantined for illness and/or parasites. You will not have this bonus should you buy from a pet store.

If you do choose the male/female combination, be sure to get the male neutered beforehand or you risk pregnancy.

    Good luck!

  3. you can put any of them together but if you don't want babies i would suggest two males because females tend to get agressive unless they've been raised together from a very early age if you want two same s*x pigs get them young so they grow up used to each other and don't fight, good luck

  4. All of those pairings can work out quite well.  However, please get your male neutered if you want to keep a male female pair.  There are a large number of guinea pigs dying in shelters every day.

  5. Unless you plan to breed don't do a male/female combo.   Two males are fine to live together, as long as they are introduced when both are young and at the same time. Otherwise the larger/older  of the two OR the one the already his his territory established, will probably try to fight for dominance in the pen.  Two females are generally fine as well.  You could always get a pen that holds 2 cavies, but keeps them separated by a fence as well.  It sounds like you are planning on getting two at the same time, which is good, because they love lots of interaction and attention!  Think adoption first, there are lots of cavies out there that need homes!

  6. two sexes of the same kind are recomended

but two females together and two males together work well

unless you want to breed guinea pigs dont get a male and a femal together

  7. NEVER put a female and a male together, unless you want many guinea pig babies. Two males often fight each other. Sure, two females might fight but most likely not as aggressive as two males together. I'd think two females is a better choice.

  8. They all work....but if you only want two, I would pick a same s*x pair!

  9. Want babies - Male & Female

Want less fighting - Female & Female

Want cutness - Male & Male

  10. Two females in my experiences are best, they stay friends, but only if they are introduced at the same time. But a female and a male wont be good because they can have babies, really easily. unless it is neutered. but still two girls or two boys are best. I have 9 guinea pigs right now.
